The Trip to Remember: 9-10 July 2011

A couple of weeks ago after being selected for an exciting and unique endurance challenge I was gutted to have to withdraw due to a recurring injury. The Trip to Remember is a multi-discipline event starting in Dublin and ending on the top of Mount Snowdon. The team members will cycle along the Irish coast, complete a night row across the Irish Sea to Porthmadog (90 miles) using a surf rowboat and then trek to the top of Snowdon...all in under 36 hours.

The challenge is being organised by David Bedford (also competing) and Margaret Bowling (Expedition Support Manager), who have selected a 15 strong team that is full of experience and includes ocean rowers, ultra-marathon runners, Ironman competitors and long distant cyclists. Mark Beaumont ('The Man Who Cycled the World') has now been confirmed as a team member as he prepares for his rowing expedition through the Arctic.

The trip will also be raising awareness and support for the Alzheimer’s Society.

It will be a truly awesome event and I wish all of the team the best of luck with their preparation, training and the challenge itself.

If anyone would like further information on the trip or is interested in becoming involved please visit the challenge website or email triptoremember@hotmail.co.uk.
